Dental hygiene procedure

Step 1: INITIAL
CONSULTATION

Our dental hygienist will explain the dental hygiene process step-by-step, beginning with the assessment of the current state of your teeth and you will also be informed about the final result you should expect. Would you like to ask anything else? Do not hesitate to do so!

Step 2: TARTAR
REMOVAL

Tartar removal is the first real step that should be taken on the way towards healthy teeth. How does this procedure work? The remains of tartar are removed manually using a tartar scraper. If the tartar is stronger or has not been treated for a longer period of time, a modern ultrasonic cleaner dissolving the tartar under ultrasonic waves is used. This method is fast and very effective when followed by a mechanical cleaning.

Step 3:
AIRFLOW

Many people think Airflow damages tooth enamel, which is not true. Airflow is a painless method which uses a combination of water, air and powder applied onto the teeth under pressure. The technique removes plaque and pigments off your teeth’s surface.

Step 4: POLISHING PASTE
APPLICATION

After the use of Airflow, the teeth need to be polished in order to be completely cleaned. The teeth are polished using a rotating brush and polishing paste. Why is it necessary to polish the teeth? The procedure will keep your teeth’s surface smooth in the long term. It keeps new pigments from settling on your teeth. Fluoride film helps restore tooth enamel and has a favorable impact on hypersensitive teeth.

Step 5: INTERDENTAL SPACES
CLEANING

Tartar removal is followed by the cleaning of interdental spaces using dental floss and interdental brush. The following step includes a demonstration of a proper tongue cleaning and the actual tongue cleaning. Is this necessary? For sure! It is important to get rid of the plaque on your tongue in order to avoid further inconveniences caused by exposed tooth necks, gums inflammation or periodontitis.

Step 6: PERIODONTAL POCKETS
TREATMENT

Periodontal pockets treatment is one of the last steps in the procedure. If you had not undergone dental hygiene for a longer period of time, your epithelium may be damaged. Bacteria get into subginval spaces (pockets) where they may cause inflammatory processes. In this case, dental hygiene is an efficient form of aid.

Step 7: PATIENT’S
INSTRUCTION

Oral hygiene is as important as other daily activities. We will carefully explain to you how to take care of your teeth and show you all the necessary aids you will need. We will also examine your teeth using an intraoral camera so that you can see the difference between the states of your teeth before and after dental hygiene yourself. Moreover, our hygienist will show you the spaces in your mouth where tooth decay may be developing. Would you like to ask anything else? Do not hesitate, and your teeth will be perfectly clean!
